Tonya Thompson

is the Co-Founder of DreamGirls Hair, a nationally celebrated hair care brand that generated over $2.5 million in sales within its first year of launching in 2020. Known for its transformative Healthy Hair Care System, DreamGirls has helped thousands of women grow longer, stronger, healthier hair.

 

Tonya's leadership and impact in the beauty industry earned DreamGirls a coveted spot in Ulta Beauty’s MUSE Accelerator Program, which supports Black and women-owned beauty brands. Her work has also been featured in Forbes, Fortune, Black Enterprise, and more.

She is also the Co-Founder of the Mixed Institute of Cosmetology & Barbering, the first Black-owned cosmetology school in Sacramento, committed to increasing representation and creating career pathways for aspiring beauty professionals of color.

In addition to her success in the beauty and education industries, Tonya is a licensed Real Estate Agent with over 20 years of experience in property investment, home ownership, and house flipping. Her passion for real estate is rooted in a mission to help families build wealth through ownership and strategic investing.

For 17 years, Tonya owned and operated Kid’s Preparatory Academy, Inc., a private preschool and elementary school with two locations serving over 180 students from ages 2 through 6th grade. With a core philosophy of “Children Today, Professionals Tomorrow,” the school helped many students excel academically beyond their grade levels.

Tonya earned her degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations from California State University, Northridge. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter, and a graduate mother member of Jack and Jill of America, Los Angeles Chapter.

As a devoted mother of three accomplished young women and a trailblazing entrepreneur, Tonya lives by the powerful motto: “Just Do It.” Her journey is a testament to vision, faith, and the power of taking action.
